Community Service Award
Outstanding Service to Community
KAB Living Treasure

Lifetime Achievement Award
Territory Tidy Towns is about pride in your community and doing the best you can with what you have got. It is about having a go. For remote people it has important spinoffs in health and better living conditions.
Territory Tidy Towns is a community development program. It is active right across the Northern Territory. It is about building capacity in communities. It is not just about choosing the Territory’s tidiest or cleanest communities although this is an important factor. It is about identifying and showcasing the communities and individuals who are putting effort into making positive changes. It is also about positive reinforcement for the many people who are working against the odds and achieving remarkable success.
John Sivewright (Tony) Home and Away May 2008
Tourism NT sponsored a media group, Treehouse Productions, to visit and fish the NT in May 2008.
Clearwater Island Lodge was very honored to be able to help support this with Tourism NT.
The group arrived the afternoon of May 14 for 2-days fishing and 1-day cultural activities.
The purpose of the trip was to produce a fishing DVD to be distributed by the Australian Fishing Network and also write several articles for mainstream fishing magazines.
They provided Tourism NT with a 2-minute video of their experience at Clearwater Island Lodge for upload onto travelnt.com. We will be uploading this onto our own website as soon as it is finished.
We had the great honour of meeting and having a wonderful time with the producers Danny and Jaz Spelic.
When our daughter Neasha heard that Jon Sivewright (Tony) from Home and Away was also coming to do the production of the fishing DVD she was over the moon and very excited and could not wait to meet with John. Neasha even had the honour of having her photo taken and a little dance with John. Thank you John it was a pleasure and the most wonderful experience to meet you which we will remember for a very long time. We also want to give a big thank you to Domonique from Tourism NT who made all this possible.
Domonique has informed us that everyone had a fantastic time and thank you!
Jaz even told Regus one of the Traditional Owners from the Tiwi Islands whilst on the Cultural Tour that ‘it was one of the best days of his life’.
We will keep you informed to when the DVD will be distributed.
Television Campaign 2008
Munupi Wilderness Lodge Pty Ltd trading as Clearwater Island Lodge has gone out on a limb in 2008 and are currently running a TV campaign on several Fishing programs in May /June 2008 across several different regions, targeting more anglers to come an experience the ULTIMATE Fishing Adventure.
These campaign’s have turned out to be very popular and has lead to a lot of new prospects.
We were able to secure several spots on several different shows.
One being the Newly Released
“I Fish”that was released by Network Ten and Premiered on Sunday 4 May at noon with a second episode on Sunday 18 May.
We are so happy with the success of this campaign. We thought it would be good to let all of our past anglers know that it is highly recommended that you get in early for the 2009 Season as several spots have already been secured and filled from this Marketing Campaign.
Name Change 2007 to Clearwater Island Lodge
Munupi Wilderness has had a name change as we have found that a lot of our fishing anglers are unable to say or spell the name MUNUPI
We are still Munupi Wilderness Lodge Pty Ltd but you can now find us also under Clearwater Island Lodge from 2007.
Munupi Lodge Bulletin 2006
Two weeks ago we had the interesting honour of hosting Bender & Curtis from Surfing The Menu, needless to say a most interesting event. After four days of filming the boys were ready for some serious R&R which proved to be a Godsend to the boys, as it was their first time in our neck of the woods, they were amazed over the variety of fish that were available and we are not sure if they were speaking from a chefs point of view or an anglers. If it looks like their competitive nature is confined to TV, let me assure you it is not, it was like watching a Grand Final Footy match. Of course they hand picked a couple of fish that they wanted to serve for that nights dinner, to our surprise they wanted to show off their world class culinary skills and seized the kitchen in the process.
They wisely chose a large Mangrove Jack and Barra for dinner, whilst debating who had caught them. You do not often get to see such an awesome display of skill anywhere and we were in absolute awe over their dazzling display. The four days they were here could not have gone better with Bender vowing to come back as a surprise chef, this seemed like a fair trade as he is an obsessed fisherman. http://www.abc.net.au/surfingmenu/tiwi.htm
It would be easy to stake a claim that the fantastic fishing we have is due to us being here, but the truth be known as most would, we just simply promote or reveal what is already there. There is no doubt that these islands are one of the last frontiers where abundance and angling action as well as beauty is second to none. The area being so vast and undiscovered that those who have ventured this way will know it is not uncommon for us to stumble upon new fishing grounds on a regular basis.
The fact that we are hidden at the northern end of the Apsley straight, the body of water that divides Bathurst from Melville Island gives us many advantages, firstly we have over twenty estuaries to choose from within the straight alone. Because of the depth of water between the two islands it makes for excellent Jew fishing and if you have never caught one before try sending a line down anywhere between 25 – 80 meters and hooking up to an engine block, then winding it in.To add to this there is our ability to hop from estuary to estuary without being affected by the weather because of the sheltered waters of the straight. Or there is the choice to do some breathtaking Bluewater angling that would soon Kwell the appetite of the most seasoned fishos. Put all this together and you get a one-stop fishing destination.
Something that should not go unmentioned is Munupi Art Centre which has become an icon for visitors to the lodge to be able to purchase some incredible pieces of artwork in between fishing, in the form of pottery, carvings and paintings. It also allows the visitor to interact with the artists and look on as the work is being done. There are truly some great works & investments available.
For those who are looking for something a bit different, there is also our Eco and Cultural tours that have become increasingly more popular, more information on these can be found here on our web site.
From myself and all the staff of Munupi Lodge we wish you all best.
